PEBA Annual General Meeting 2018

Event date: 14 Nov 2018 Event

The 2018 Annual General Meeting for the Planning and Environment Bar Association will be held at 5.00pm on Friday 13 July 2018 at FTB Chambers, Inner Temple, London EC4Y 7BY for the purposes of transacting the following association business:

  • Chairman’s report
  • Treasurers report
  • Amendment of the PEBA Constitution regarding the terms of office (see annex)
  • Election of Chairman and Vice-Chairman
  • Election of treasurer (one year)
  • Election of secretary (one year)
  • Election of members of the committee

At the end of this business we shall adjourn for refreshments.  All members welcome. Any member wishing to be considered for election to the committee should return the completed nomination form here,  duly proposed and seconded, to the Secretary by Friday 6th July 2018.

PEBA Seminar – Developing best practice at appeals inquiries and hearings – Friday 23 February 2018

Event date: 23 Feb 2018 Event

This seminar will be delivered by the Planning Inspector Andrew Seaman, together with Christine Thorby & Stuart Reid, chaired by Andrew Tait QC.

The seminar will be from 6pm until 7pm in the Seminar Suite at Francis Taylor Building, Inner Temple, London EC4Y 7BY

It will take place before the Annual Dinner.

PEBA Annual Dinner – Friday 23 February 2018

The Chairman and Committee of the Planning & Environment Bar Association request the pleasure of your company at this year’s PEBA Annual Dinner to be held at the Inner Temple on Friday 23 February 2018.

We are delighted to be able to say the dinner is, after the success last year, again being hosted by Inner Temple and is available at a subsidised price.  Places are limited so sign up soon to avoid  disappointment.

This year the dinner will be in lounge suits in order to make it easier for members to come straight from work.

Details for the event are as follows:

  • 7.00pm: Reception in the Drawing Room
  • 7.45pm: Dinner
  • 11.00pm: Carriages

Tickets for the Annual Dinner are:

  • £75 for all members of 7 years call and more.
  • £45 for members of under 7 years call
  • £35 for members of under 2 years call

Those attending the dinner include the three Planning Inspectors from the earlier seminar, Trudi Elliott (RTPI), Tim Smith (Law Society and BLP) and our honorary members Lord Carnwath

PEBA Autumn seminar – The Art of Advocacy in Planning

PEBA is delighted to announce that The Hon Mr Justice Dove will present a seminar for PEBA members entitled:

‘The Art of Advocacy in Planning’

The seminar will be held at 6pm on Thursday 30 November 2017 at the Scrivener Suite, Cornerstone Barristers, 2-3 Gray’s Inn Square, London WC1R 5JH and will be chaired by Andrew Tait QC. The seminar will last 1 hour and will be followed by drinks in the Marshall-Hall Room.

PEBA National Conference 2018 – Planning Law and Policy – All change or more of the same? 18th May 2018

The Conference is to be held on Friday 18 May 2018, at Hogan Lovells International LLP in London.

The Conference includes a Keynote address from The Right Hon Lord Hodge, Justice of The Supreme Court.

The Frances Patterson Paper will be delivered by Lady Hale, President of the Supreme Court in honour of Mrs Justice Patterson.

The conference will assess the latest developments and proposals for planning and environmental law, policy and procedure in key areas and consider the implications for practitioners and whether what is proposed will in fact deliver meaningful change for planning.

PEBA National Conference 2017: Delivering sustainable development – recognising the tensions

Event date: 5 May 2017 Event

The PEBA National Conference 2017 is now open for bookings. The Conference is to be held on Friday 5 May 2017, at Hogan Lovells LLP in London.

The Conference includes a Keynote address from Holgate J, President of the Upper Tribunal Lands Chamber, whilst the paper in honour of Mrs Justice Patterson will be delivered by Lindblom LJ.

Other talks will be given by a range of leading practitioners and will focus on the delivery of sustainable development and recent changes and forthcoming reforms to the Compulsory Purchase regime, amongst other topics.
