PEBA responds to the Government’s consultation on compulsory purchase: compensation reforms

In June 2022, DLUHC published a consultation paper setting out its proposals for changes as to how prospective planning permissions fall to be taken into account when assessing the open market value of land acquired by compulsion.  DLUHC also sought views on potentially wider reforms, which would allow authorities to acquire land at or closer to existing use value, essentially through capping or removing the payment of hope value.
