Bullying, Harassment or Discrimination

The Bar Council has a number of resources which are provided to assist those who have experienced harassment or bullying. The Bar Council’s ‘Helplines and enquiry services’ can be found here. The services provided include:

  • Talk to Spot – Talk to Spot is an online tool which allows the profession to confidentially report instances of bullying, harassment and discrimination.
  • Pupil’s Helpline – The Pupil’s Helpline is a helpline which provides confidential advice and support to those undertaking pupillage. It puts pupils in touch with an experienced and independent barrister to assist with problems which are encountered during pupillage.
  • Equality and Diversity helpline – The Equality and Diversity helpline is a confidential helpline which provides support and advice to barristers and chambers staff about any equality and diversity, parental leave or bullying and harassment issue.
  • Assistance Programme – The Assistance Programme offers confidential help and support to everyone working in and around the Bar. The programme is run by Health Assured and is part of the ‘Wellbeing at the Bar’ programme
